Why read this blog?
In my humble opinion, you, dear reader, are a seed.
“Excuse me?” you may think. “How dare you call me a seed?” To that, I’d say “I understand your skepticism, but allow me a moment to explain.”
A seed to me is a powerhouse. Small, quiet, often overlooked, yet carrying within itself extraordinary potential. So, when I say you remind me of a seed, I am paying you a sincere compliment! Seeds hold entire futures; they simply need the right ingredients i.e. fresh air, sunlight and thoughtful nourishment.
Think of this blog as part of that nourishment.
Here, I share reflections on international law, domestic law, judgements and how legal ideas shape the world around us. Not as dense textbook paragraphs, but as clarity, the kind that ultimately helps form your own independent understanding.
If my invitation does not feel compelling enough yet, that’s perfectly alright. Seeds, after all have all sorts of creative ways to unleash their potential. Take maple seeds, for instance. They float gracefully through wind, carried forward by their delicate wings. Perhaps, you are a maple seed too: independent, self-propelled and beautifully capable of charting your own path.
Others hitch a ride on passing animals, clinging with their uniquely sticky outer coats, determined to move, no matter the obstacles. Then of course, there are seeds I like to consider bold, that take the most unexpected route of all. They pass through the digestive tracts of animals, travelling along with a meal, only to be “dropped” somewhere entirely new. Unbothered, resilient and ready to forge an unconventional path. Whichever kind of seed you are, I wish one thing for you: do not stay in the shade. There is rarely enough light there and almost never enough space.
At this juncture, you may ask “what if I don’t explore? What if I stay as I am?” Well, seeds that never open often burst on their own. Like dry pea pods splitting sharply or the rather theatrical squirting cucumber launching its insides as if protesting stagnation.
But let’s not get too dramatic, this is all a bit extreme. We are simply here to learn, grow and understand the world with more depth than before. If any idea here helps you stretch toward the sunlight, even by an inch, then ‘Seeds on the Move’ will have served its purpose.
Welcome. Let’s grow!
